  • Description

The rattrapante — split-seconds chronograph — represents one of horology's most demanding complications, requiring a second chronograph hand that can be stopped independently to capture an intermediate time whilst the primary hand continues uninterrupted. It is a complication that separates serious chronograph manufactures from the merely competent, demanding movement architecture of exceptional precision and robustness.

The RM 65-01 delivers this complication within Richard Mille's signature tonneau case in rose gold — a material choice that introduces warmth against the movement's characteristically industrial transparency. The manually-wound calibre RMAC4 exposes the rattrapante mechanism in full architectural visibility, the split-seconds arbor and column wheel presented as both functional components and aesthetic centrepieces.

That Richard Mille has brought the rattrapante within its distinctive design language — uncompromisingly contemporary, mechanically fearless — adds a further chapter to a complication with roots stretching back to 19th century Swiss precision timekeeping.
