  • Description

The 25562BA emerged during one of Audemars Piguet's most consequential periods — the Jacqueline Dimier era, when the manufacture doubled down on complicated watchmaking with a conviction that bordered on defiance whilst the broader industry capitulated to the quartz crisis. That AP continued producing perpetual calendars of this ambition during this moment speaks to an institutional character that the Royal Oak's subsequent commercial dominance has somewhat obscured.

The ultra-thin calibre 2120/2800 — hundreds of components compressed into a sub-4mm movement profile, jointly developed with Jaeger-LeCoultre — delivers the full perpetual calendar canon with an elegance that thicker movements cannot approach. That this mechanical achievement exists within a solid yellow gold case already represents a statement of considerable conviction.

The diamond bar hour markers and ruby bezel transform conviction into something considerably more extravagant. As the only known example in this configuration, it exists entirely beyond comparison.
