The Explorer II traces its lineage to 1971 and a brief that demanded more than the original Explorer could deliver — a watch conceived for spelunkers and polar explorers navigating environments where distinguishing day from night by conventional means was impossible. The fixed 24-hour bezel and GMT hand, allowing simultaneous tracking of two time zones and unambiguous AM/PM differentiation, addressed that requirement with characteristic Rolex directness.
The 16570 "Polar" — its white dial configuration earning the nickname through association with the arctic environments the Explorer II was conceived to serve — presents the reference's instrument credentials in their most legible and visually open form. Against the white ground, the 24-hour bezel scale, Arabic numerals, and GMT hand read with a clarity that the black dial variant, however purposeful, cannot match.
Housing the calibre 3185 and produced across a substantial run that nonetheless produced relatively few white dial examples, the Polar 16570 has attracted consistent and growing secondary market attention from collectors who understand that instrument watches wearing their purpose this honestly are increasingly difficult to find.

OUR RETURN POLICY

In order for your return or exchange to be eligible, the item must be completely unused and unworn in its original packaging. Material Good reserves the right to refuse any return if the items appear to be damaged or show signs of wear.

A representative will get back to you within 24 hours during business hours, Monday-Friday. Timepiece Warranty

Material Good offers a one-year warranty on all pre-owned timepieces purchased through our boutiques and online, effective from the date of purchase. The Date of Purchase is defined as the date on the bill-of-sale, sales receipt, or any dated document designated by Material Good as proof-of-purchase. Our warranty does not cover normal wear and tear or damage resulting from improper handling, evidence of external impact, unauthorized tampering, third party intervention or water damage. Each watch sold through Material Good is considered for warranty repair at the sole discretion of Material Good. All repairs needed after the 1-year warranty period will be the responsibility of the client.

The Material Good warranty does not cover damage caused by water exposure or physical impact. Our certified watchmakers will inspect any timepiece to determine the cause of damage. Material Good reserves the right to void the warranty if the damage is found to result from water intrusion or impact.
